#33- Greenschmoops' Sunny Weather

Name: Greenschmoops
Location: Chicago
Type: Condo

Why I use color:"Me and my husband are coming from different backgrounds. I'm coming from Israel, from the middle east. My husband is an American by birth. We both wanted to make our home as warm as can be especially since I'm so far away from home. I really wanted warm colors, that will represent sunlights, hot weather. Especially when the Chicago winter is getting closer each day. So we started with the orange. It makes us feel like we are in a sunny weather."

"Then we added the green and the yellow that are warm too but less bright. We just started our lives together here in our first apartment that we bought. We wanted to find a warm place that will be personal, a place we both can hang out a lot, cook, bake, mix cuisines and tastes and colors..."

2 Good color tips:

"Trust your instinct- if you want to go on a certain color that first comes to your mind-go for it."
"Remember that your home is your "temple". Don;t over do with bright colors and contrasts. You want to relax when you are coming home. "

The walls are certainly bright and rather lovely. I'm sure anyone would feel welcome in this cheerful home! I just wish the photos would have been shot at a wider angle, instead of just focusing on a few things-- unfortunately I don't really have a feel for what your apartment looks like.

That pink bench would be lovely with just the green, but with the added orange, it's absolutely striking. I agree with the previous comment that I can't get a great feel for the space in the pictures, but the vignettes are very appealing.

Stunning use of color. You started with a generic-looking space and low-cost, modest furniture. But with color you transformed your apartment into a magical home! Totally hot.

Wow, love the first pic. Light and shadow - yummy! I really enjoy how the different colors you've chosen, oranges, pinks, yellows, greens, play off each other. I love how the same pink bench and green wall look so different in the 2nd and 5th pics. Light and shadow - awesome!

Given the guidlines of this contest, I have no idea why it has so many "long-shot" votes. I think your colors are amazingly "bold, beautiful and colorful". Maybe I missed the part about your apartment having to be well designed and trendy as well...and have tourquoise walls.

Insta-finalist from me!

I would definitely love to hang out here, reading a book on the sofa in that deliciously orange room with the sun slanting in, soaking up the greens and pinks and oranges, while the hostess whips up some Israeli cousine. Anyone who deploys colors so sensuously is probably a great cook, too.

Your taste proved to be exquisite in the colors you chose! You've created a warm, inviting home with a sunny, feel-good mood that's bound to lift anyone's spirit, even in the middle of a Chicago winter! This place is a winner!

The colors are beautiful, and the artwork coordinate well with the walls. Not only are the colors warm, but there is a sense of fun, and each section is inviting. Of interest is the way light and shade play on the colors. The top picture is an absolute gem, and I'm sure guests will gravitate to that spot.

The first photo is exquisit and shows creativity. The choices of colors are warm and inviting.I don't need a larger view of the apartment to imagine what the rest of the space will evolve into.
