#34- Elizabeth's Color Moods

Name: Elizabeth
Location: Roeland Park, KS
Type: 2 bedroom home, owned

Why I use color:"Color is as much a part of my life as eating and sleeping. By day, I work as a graphic designer, by night I like to paint, so color is constantly on my mind. I like to use color to create a certain mood. My studio and kitchen give me energy. My living room and bedroom relax me and my bathroom makes me feel pampered."

2 Good color tips:

"Live in the room for a while before you paint it. Then, when the mood strikes you, choose your color. When I first moved into my house, I had colors in mind for all my rooms...I stuck with none of them!"

"Don't be afraid to pick something wacky. Remember, it's just paint. Look at me, I have a bright pink bathroom!
"

Favorite type and brand of paint:"Benjamin Moore"

I dig all of this, especially the pink bathroom and the painting in the last picture. Who's the artist?

Lorie99...you GET OUT. Yours is MY (along with everyone elses)
favorite.

I'll have to get back to you all on all the swatch colors. I'm not too great at remember that sort of stuff. The paintings in the last picture, the bedroom, and over the couch are all done by me. I'm too poor right now to buy any art done buy other people EXCEPT for the print in the hallway. It's by the artist "kirinco" on etsy.

The pink & black & white bathroom is adorable. Lots of personality -- the shower curtain looks great with the tile. Good for you.

Awesome job decorating! My favorite room is actually the living room in the first picture.

Woohoo, there are so many great entries this year. My favorite room here is the kitchen. The sage green and the red... and the black & white floor.

Love this one! It's well put together without looking totally staged or catalogue-ish, and Elizabeth's personality really shines through. Way to work a pink bathroom! Plus, the picture of the studio set a little fire under me to get back to painting! Lovely work (the home and the art!) Oh, and yay Kansas!

Love your sofa. As I'm sofa shopping, I feel like I should be able to tell what it is, but all sofas are starting to look alike. Can you share plz?

I love the green kitchen, and especially the pink bathroom with the black and white floor. This is delicious.

Yes, this is a color contest, but unless an apartment is as delicious as this one in this many ways other than color, it's really hard for me to justify the instant finalist thing.

I mean... I really hate when people are mean to the rest of them, but it's apartments like this that I REALLY crave seeing. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOO much for entering.

In case I haven't made myself clear, I LOVE this one. I really, truly LOVE this one.

Its one of the rare posts i'd like to comment. I love the color combinations in this apartment. Blue, which seldom works for me in rooms, looks great in combination with black and natural white. Lime green is great with red details in kitchen. Pink bathroom is not overkill with those red towels and silver of the bath curtain. And color in bedroom looks so cozy. Oh, and compliments on the painting! Very inspiring!

Aww thanks guys for the nice comments. I have to admit, after reading the comments on a few other places, I was a little worried.

Ok, SO the paint colors that I do remember are...
Kitchen: Pear Green (Benjamin Moore). Living room: Porch Swing Blue (Martha Stewart) Bedroom: some pearescent color from Benjamin Moore (can't remember which, but there aren't that many). Studio: antiquity (Sherwin Williams). I feel really bad that I can't remember the Hallway color (or find the swatch at the moment). I do know that is was from Lowe's and I'll never buy paint there again. They ran out of eggshell when I was about a quart away from finishing. It's a little thin in places..grrr

Annyway, 'bout the furniture, my couch is from Nebraska Furniture Mart. Living in Kansas City we have no Ikea, no H&M, no nothing. The only the we have that is special is NFM. We are very deprived. It was very cheap, and there's probably no way you would recognize it. My coffee table was purchased from urban outfitters when I got online one day and noticed they were having a 30% off everything sale. I like it. And it goes with my lone CB2 purchase (my lamp).

Thanks again for all your comments. This has been fun!

Eebee, so happy to see your entry online! Your home is charming & I really admire the painting in the last photo. LOVE the checkerboard floor in the kitchen!

Wanna get together & have a Kansas City "lack-o-shopping-options" pity party? =)
