Congratulations to all! AT:Chicago would like to thank each of the entrants for stepping up and sharing their homes in this year's inspiring contest. Thanks to the readers for choosing our 16 regional winners and to the judges for choosing the 4 national champs. Finally, huge thanks to our contest partner CB2!

A quote from one of our judges sums up the joy of well chosen color in Dan and Amy's modern family home - as The CB2 Crew says: "It takes amazing talent to go this bold and pull such vibrant, rich colors together so well. The fun and energy is undeniable and infectious. The eclectic mix isn't overdone and complements the colors used to express their personalities. "
The rest of the winning lineup is below the jump...

Interesting that my earlier comment has been deleted by AT, but I'll say it again:
Most disappointing and uninspiring fall colors contest yet.

Um, yeah, my comment is gone, too....

Sorry about the loss of comments - we had two of the winners announcements publish in error and one was deleted. Commenting should be fine now...

Congrats to the winners. Thanks for sharing your colorful and inspiring homes with us.
As a relatively new AT fan, this was the first time I've followed a Color Contest. Can't wait for the next one.

Ok I salvaged my original comment from my profile...
Sort of disappointing since the people who won have already had their 15 minutes of fame in Dwell...............and it is such a unique space (and HUGE) that it's hard to relate to for all of us apartment dwellers. They did make great use of color but I can't see how the judges could have been entirely free of bias. Well, congratulations to ALL, and the other winners have all done an amazing and inspiring job as well. Bravo!

What great choices judges! Great color balance, and energy spread throughout the spaces. Really enjoyed this and the beauty that each contestant displayed with color - Clean, Chic, and Warm as is the season, Autumn - Congrats Winners!!

i think boldness in 'color' is sometimes (and in the case of this year's winner) achieved through chaos, clutter, and distraction. what ever happened to subtlety?

i loved the home of the top winner, but like many others was a little bothered that they even entered the contest given the high level of exposure of their place... not just dwell, i spotted them in either oprah home or met home as well.
that said, my discomfort is a personal bias towards liking to discover less-exposed homes thru AT contest, but the thrill of discovery isn't a stated goal of the contest and maybe they really do need $2500 worth of cb2 products!
in other words, i think they won fair & square but question whether they should have entered in the first place. that is a personal decision on their part... just not one that i would emulate.
again, congrats to all the winners!

I believe the owners of hte Chinatown Loft deserve the credit for winning this fairly. What bothers me more than the fact the home has been featured elsewhere (apparently numerous places), is that they were asked by AT to submit the photos rather than entering on their own accord. I could have misinterpreted this post, but that is what the following post has lead me to believe:
arza: I asked them to submit their own photos, which to my knowledge these are. These should all be different from their Dwell spread, as Dan and Amy kindly agreed and sent photos shot with a digital camera. They may look a little smoothed/blurred because I had to resize them.

I think that reading that quote from arza? or gregory, it seems likethey were asked, after submitting photos that the hadn't taken, to re-submit with photos that they had personally taken.
I don't know either way but it is also possible that there may have tended to be bias AGAINST the entry to avoid any apperance of being influenced by dwell or whatever and to avoid any controversy. And it still won.

i agree with STLcolleen. i have no comment on whether the winners should have entered or won the contest or not, but i have to admit that their entry didn't inspire me -- not because it was in poor taste or anything, but because i can't relate to it. the owners are blessed to be able to work with such a huge space and unique architectural elements. but what i like about AT is the feeling i (usually) get that i can apply most of their ideas to my own humble starter apartment. i don't get that feeling with this space.
i guess i prefer the small cool contest -- less points for using neon-colored paint and more points for making the most of what you've got.

no inspiration here either - I'm just sad. The winner is sooo over-exposed - I was hoping for something a little more different.......

I think the winning space is amazing. I live in a 3900 sq. foot room, and I was thrilled to see all the things they'd done. But if AT's readership is so cranky about the size, the previous publication of the space, etc., then perhaps the editors will change the rules for the next round.
And if one of the criteria for winning a contest is the "need" for the prize, then let everyone submit a victim story essay, just like for college admission.
