What inspired you to use color?
We love warm fall colors: browns, oranges, and greens in particular. Color brings life to a space and our home is full of warmth and life.
Color Tip: We chose to gradually build color as you come into our home. Our front entry way is more neutral and as you move thru our home, the bedrooms and bathrooms contain the bolder color choices. A home should reflect the personalities of the people who live there. The bedroom colors reflect the people who live in those spaces.
Colors Used: We used Benjamin Moore's Aura (low VOC) paints.
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote til you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

That's an Ofuro - a Japanese Soaking Tub.
They're made super-deep with a ledge that one sits on so that one can sit upright, yet still be up to your neck in water.

The stencils in the entryway are great, so simple but really sophisticated in the brown. You know what...I didn't know until now that wanted a Japanese soaking tub :) I can't get over the cuteness of the tree with the birdhouse. What a lucky kid to have that room!

I love the colors but would have liked to see more of the house instead of the hallway and the entry. (Bedroom, livingroom) I think this would be a great post with better choice of pictures.

some info on how we made the tree... aside from the electrical it was not hard. and the idea comes from the beautiful inke tree decal that we could not afford. the trunk is paint and the leaves are different wrapping papers that we laminated and used poster putty to mount to the wall. the leaves can be easily removed and the trunk painted over as the room evolves and its little resident grows up. the bird house is just a cheapy wooden one from a craft store that we mounted to the wall (ran electrical from the switch below) and installed a toggle switch on the birdhouse to turn the light on and off.
as to the bathtub, yes it's a japanese soaking tub, and it was the solution to our bathroom remodel that allowed us to have a shower and bathtub in a small space that needed to function as a master bath. we found it on the internet, there are many different kinds you will find if you google them.
as to the choice of 10 pictures, we did shoot some of our family room and fireplace, but they came out blurry - this was the first time we've shot photos without flash and didn't have a tripod. we learned that it's a much longer exposure and you have to hold the camera REALLY still. So the non-blurry photos are what you see. Thanks again everyone - we're really enjoying seeing all of the beautiful homes!

Beautiful home but I do not feel warmth from the colors. The colors used are cool tones not warm tones. With the safe use of colors there is no vibrancy or warmth.
