What inspired you to use color? With such a small space to work with, and my busy schedule, I wanted to create a special place where I can relax and enjoy. My favorite color is green, and I thought that mixing the green, white, and orange would create a special environment!

Color Tip: Do not be afraid to implement bright colors!

fallcolors1.jpgWelcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...

1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.

2. Voting Phase - you vote til you drop

Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

Best, Maxwell

Snide, snobby comments are never clever. So what if it's Ikea? Jen's done a great job of mixing color and function in her tiny abode and made it work. The apartment is bright, clutter-free, and adorable. I love the little pumpkins on the tv in time for Halloween too. Kudos, Jen!

Wow the Ikea comment was incredibly rude! Not everyone has a huge budget for decorating. I think she did a terrific job with the colors. Would have liked to see more of it.

It looks so bright and refreshing! The wall color is fabulous and you are so brave to try it. My first thought was "Juicy"!

Kudos to you!

Perfect shade of orange! That takes skill to find that out of all the myriad options.

Cute. I like the orange. I would've liked to see the bedroom area instead of close-ups of the pictures and couch corner, though.

Very cheerful and fresh feeling. I am sure you have a lot cold days in Detroit and this is a breath of fresh air. Good idea to stick to a simple color palette in a small space.

IKEA is not an insult to everyone (although I agree that was the intent in the original comment). Not everyone is a price/design snob. I think IKEA has great ideas!

i wanna say something about ikea. we all know how post grads live. well, i'm that PLUS i was suddenly disabled. so, before you make those mean comments, realize that there are people in the world who have to save up for ikea. so, it's nice to see someone who does such a charming job on a budget. also, people need to realize that living small & cutting back is actually the first R of the 3 Rs. REDUCE! so, instead of making a jab b/c you recognize something as budget, step back, admire it, & ask yourself if you could do it.

& btw, when i saw this place, i smiled. it's full of character.

I love the colors - it's like living in a marigold. But I'd like to see the kitchen and bed areas as well!
