What inspired you to use color? All the original materials in the house before we rehabbed such as the original Formica counter and plywood walls.

Color Tip: I try to play with what is already available and original to the house. I try to keep it timeless, so I will always enjoy it!

fallcolors1.jpgWelcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...

1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.

2. Voting Phase - you vote til you drop

Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

Best, Maxwell

I love this; what a fun home! But, please don't move the dog around from photo to photo! Staging makes sense, but we need continuity, too.

Great furniture pieces and beautiful home, but all of the furniture looks like it's pushed up against the walls. Anyway to bring it out into the space a little more?

Little Flower I was thinking the same thing about the dog statue! Ha!

I adore this livingroom, it could be straight out of a mid-century better homes and gardens. Please take that as a compliment.

Can you tell me where you got the cream/bone colored, mid-century inspired sofa?

Hi everyone! Thanks for the comments! The sofa is actually from Macy's- the Corona series. It one of the only new pieces in the house. The dog actually hasn't moved. The house is actually just that small- which is why the furniture is up against the wall. The 3 bedroom house is 1300 square feet, so it's a bit hard to fill the room and still have walking space. We moved in and rehabbed all within a few weeks and finished a few months ago. Blinds are on the way! Please, please check me out at www.momoderne.com. I would love to hear your opinions and ideas there too!

Wow....I have looked at the Corona sofa online, but I think it looks much better in your home than I imagined. Is it the stone or neutral fabric? Is it comfortable? I have a child, but it looks like you do too, so I imagine the textile is durable. I've been looking at the Reese from Room and Board, but for $1,000 less, you might have just changed my mind!

Hi! Yes! I looked at that line too and a similar one at Crate and Barrel, but this line was my favorite, so much that I got a sofa, loveseat, and chair! The chair and loveseat are brown and the couch is neutral. I really do love it! I do have a 4 month old, 2 cats and a dog and it is very easy to keep clean... If you do go with it, please let me know if you like it!

Anna, your place is great and shows ingenuity and style. Good work on updating without wiping out the best parts of a mid-century home! This was one of my favorite entries.
