apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Finds: Five Ten's Back Porch Container Garden

Although gardening month has come to a close and we're moving on to another kind of green living, we didn't want you to miss this lovely porch garden tagged in Flickr with "apartmenttherapychicago." We love the way that Five Ten has made the most of her typical Chicago deck by lining the edges with planters that sit, hang, and clip to the rails...

We first featured Five Ten's garden on AT:Chicago last year, and we're happy to see that she's using her outdoor space again this summer.

We noticed that the table and chairs have been moved, and a few plants have been changed, but the key ingredient - lots and lots of greenery - remains.

This garden serves as a great example of how a typical city deck can be easily transformed with container plants. It's good inspiration for those who are contemplating a small garden on the back porch.

don't water your plants too much water.
I see a lot of water down in that saucer.

You'd be surprised at what you can grow in those containers. A friend has just 2 tomato plants in a retangular container, and is getting tons of huge tomatos.
