Looking through our Chicago Cure Flickr Pool last night, we came across a nice surprise: Meg and Ross have made a couple of changes to their bathroom. We blogged their bathroom earlier this month and pointed out its clever storage solutions. With new fabric walls and a little decluttering, it looks even better! More photos below.

Where did you find your fabrics??
I live in Chicago as well and looking to do something similar in my dining room, but I do not have the budget for wall paper. Where did you find the liquid starch as well?

Wow!
I think you can usually pick up liquid starch in the grocery store in the laundry aisle.

Will the steam from the shower hurt the bond of the liquid starch? I'm thinking of doing something similar, but my bathroom doesn't get very good ventilation.

Love the texture!
I was excited to click on your names and see the rest of the apartment which I remember liking a lot. You guys have really created a space with character.

I really like the look, but fabric wall covering can be a disaster in a bathroom...
I know after 5 minutes I'd have some sort of toothpaste, hair product, or beach from cleaning all over the gorgeous fabric.

I think it looks very nice, but I second the concern about stains. I think the fabric near the sink is likely to get waterlogged and spattered with toothpaste.

Great looking bathroom. Can you please tell me where you got the lucite shelf over the toilet?

Thanks guys! My bold move paid off!!! (As i was saying in my flickr description- I think I was high off my recent AT fame and decided to just bite the bullet and go for the black and white fabric.)
The pink damask was on sale ages ago here: http://www.hancocks-paducah.com. I bought it for another purpose that didnt pan out and decided to put it up in the bathroom, mostly b/c i didnt to hassle with paint. Well, half way through the job i ran out, which I suspected might happen so I did two opposite walls first. Then I rushed over to Joann on Elston with a swatch of the damask and spent 45 minutes mulling over the crazy black and white pattern.
It put it up two months ago and havent had any problems with steam or stains yet. I was thinking of getting a plexi-glass back splash for the sink but so far it hasn't been necessary.
The lucite shelf is from The Container Store and the dachshund drawing is from Ikea (a few years ago).

Hmmm ... I love love LOVE the rest of the home, but I just can't wrap my head around these walls ... I love the art prints you have (and the pink towel!), but just can't figure out how these two fabric patterns are supposed to go together... not even in a cool clashy way.

ridge_van_winkle- haha, yes, I agree it's a little crazy. I wasnt sure they'd work together either, but I'm quite happy with it. Being in the bathroom feels like being wrapped in a quilt! (It's a very small room and I was nervous the fabric would make the room look even smaller but instead it emphasizes the height of the 9 ft ceilings.)
I think it works b/c the patterns are sort of at the same scale. And since the damask is fairly small and very traditional, a whole bathroom with that would just be boring! In general I love strong black and white patterns paired with delicate Victorian or baroque ones.
