Flickr Finds: Susan's Decorative Headboard

Talk about adornment. This steel railing became Susan's decorative headboard. "Man of Steel" writes:

This Hand Forged Steel Railing came to me, covered in many layers of paint and Rust, with several elements missing over time. After adding legs, brackets and the missing Elements, it took a trip to the Sandblasted, and was Hand Polished using a 7" wirebrush, and coated with several Caots of PoxyCoat.

It's very Tim Burton. I would probably kill myself on it, but all the same, I like it.

Love it, though it's not really conducive to leaning against and reading, no? I wonder if the owner has considered spraypainting it a funky color...that might be fun to try.

Steel in the bedroom looks nice - I love the look of the R&B parsons bed - but cannot get comfortable with the idea of such a cold hard surface. Friends formerly with a parsons bed recently made a trip to the ER with their toddler, and ended with stitches.

As a Furniture Designer (as well as the Fabricator/Maker of this Headboard)- I am often placed in a position of pleasing both the client - AND making something that I will be proud to show to others!
We all have different perspectives/needs/wants/desires...that can be expressed in what we surround our selves with.
I, as a Maker, can help assist in the realization of that "dream".
So, when someone (a client) says to "make-it-that-high"..or to "make-it-in-that-same-finish-as.." I need to listen to that request, and then use my own judgement / experience/Insiders-knowledge" to either temper that decison, or fully endorse it.

It's a "fine line".

If you wish to see more of the Custom Furniture that I design and build,(as well as some of the items that I've "rePurposed" into Functional Furniture/Furnishings)
you can take a look at my website-

I think it is pretty cool looking but it seems a little anti-fung shui to me. I can't imagine sleeping with all those pointy things pointing at me!
