From the entrance lobbies with their fine stone cores to the dark steel structure, these three towers are Mies classics. Two of the Westmount Square towers are residential, a fact that's given away in the window treatments you see as you scan the facade.
More Mies in Montreal: Another apartment complex and a gas station on Nun's Island, built for the '67 Expo.

Westmount Square is great! But you will not find it in the east side of Montreal.
The city of Westmount and Westmount Square are definitely located in the WEST side of Montreal. It is the highest income area of Montreal and houses are worth multimillions of dollars. From an architectural point of view, the whole city is worth visiting. The city doesn't allow two houses with the same architecture...

You didn't read it properly - she said it is located in the East side of Westmount. It is 2 blocks from the eastern border of Montreal.
Can you provide a link of the building on Nun's Island?
Thanks - I am enjoying your report of Montreal - it is like seeing our city with new eyes.
any chance of a blog of apartment therapy from Montreal
thanks

hey Toronto guy, it isn't true about no two structures being the same in Montreal, we are becoming overrun by condos that all look identical, maybe they are different architects but you wouldn't know it.

I go to Montreal about 4 times a year and when I do, I couchsurf at a friend's who lives in Westmount Square. Just got back from there less than than a month ago.
The picture above in the lobby is my friend's building. I can tell the pictures are old because the front doors were upgraded earlier this year so that they are automatic.
The elevators were also recently upgraded (though imo the old up/down indicator lights looked better, the new ones also show what floor the elevator is on).
They're beautiful buildings though in looking through the windows of the residents it's too bad a lot of them don't decorate to match the beauty of the building.
If I ever live in a Mies building it'll definitely be Barcelona's and Brno's.
