This post is a bit of a Flickr Finds meets Before and After meets Good Questions...a little bit of everything! Longtime AT reader Mindy sent us an email with the details and photos of a recent (very successful!) chair rescue reupholstery job AND a question for the AT audience on where to place the newly refinished beauties in their not so big home "filled to the brim with furniture we love"...Read on...

I wanted to share photos of our new chairs with AT Chicago. Mike (my husband) and I recently inherited his Great Grandmother's chairs from the 1920's. His Grandmother has had the chairs for years and is trying to downsize her home. His uncle was getting ready to take the 2 matching chairs to the Salvation Army at Thanksgiving when Mike and I grabbed them up!

We took them to Zollinger's Furniture in St. Louis to have them refinished in ebony and reupholstered in a cream colored Knoll fabric (which I scored on Ebay for $7/yd).

The chairs were finished this week and I'm eagerly awaiting his parents upcoming trip in March to bring us the chairs (I have only seen pictures).

We are currently waiting for our new condo to be built (which will have plenty of space for our new chairs). In the meantime, we need to find room for them in our current apartment (Small Cool 2007) which is filled to the brim with furniture that we love.

One thought was to store the Nelson bench by the window and put the chairs there. We could also store the Noguchi table and move the Nelson bench over by the sofa and would probably have enough room for a cozy seating arrangement.
Well, everyone - thoughts and ideas for Mindy and Mike? Take a look at their home here and here and then let us know...What would you store? Noguchi or Nelson?
why not just store the chairs? I think your current setup is great, and I think it might look kind odd to put the chairs where the bench is because of the lounger (they don't quite go for me...)

^Agree wholeheartedly.
The chairs don't fit with your current style. The dark stain, and cream pinstripe fabric has given them a formal and traditional look that doesn't jive with the retro-modern thing you've got going. If you want to keep them because of their familial provenance, then store them until you get your bigger place.
The Noguchi and the Nelson are a big part of what makes your space work -- I wouldn't replace either with these chairs.

ditto.
The only suggestions and doubt it would work is to put the buffet by the window and the chairs in that spot.
But then it loses the cool look you have now.
Store them. Good find, tho. Love the chairs.

What is the screen blocking? Maybe put the chair there instead?

I say just get them in there and start moving stuff around. If there is simply too much furniture, I'd store them. Then, when you move to the new place it will feel like you got yourself a house warming gift!

Mindy & Mike,
What about your bedroom? It's always nice to have a sitting chair in the bedroom. It can be use to try on shoes, set a book down, etc.
Every bedroom can do nicely with a beautiful chair like that!
Off topic but can you tell me if your living couch a R&B Eugene http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product.do?method=get&id=143685&coll=90514148&cat=91552821 couch?

Hey everyone, Thanks for the comments. I've been thinking more about putting one of the chairs in the bedroom. We also have room next to the front door. Callbob- our sofa is the Bantam from DWR.

Maybe you could lend one to your favorite neighbors - who also have too much furniture??? Go for one in the bedroom, definately. I'll help you move furniture!
