Janel recently posted about color inspiration in New Buffalo, Michigan, and now we've got our own design sighting to share. While stocking up on sunscreen this past weekend in New Buffalo Pharmacy, we stumbled into the garden department and found a sweet little surprise: a bubblegum-colored garden hose!
Jump down to find out why this product is more than just pretty in pink...
Colorite has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the "world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists," to support the fight against breast cancer. For every pink hose sold, Colorite will donate $2 to the cause.
When we returned to the New Buffalo Pharmacy the very next day, the single hose was already gone but we found it for you here on Amazon for about $21. If you truly want to support the research, don't go the 'used' route because the $2 donation won't be sent in twice.

Of course its for breast cancer. which yes, need a cure. but so does AIDS, poverty, MS, violence against women, homelessness, starvation in our country AND others, etc. Someone start raising money for something ELSE, too. Breast cancer research is given the MOST money out of all charities. Can't we do better than that, and give just as much to another?

Better yet, purchase the hose of your choice and just write a check to the Susan Komen Foundation (you can even make it a whopping three bucks!!!). The whole "shopping as civic duty" phenomenon irks me.

ok....last week i saw a concrete truck that was all pink! with the breast cancer ribbons painted on the side. i thought it was great support. i'm still wondering who was driving the truck, i imagine it's not something most construction workers would happily do.

It's for people who wouldn't give otherwise and want to feel good and assuage their guilt by thinking they are truly contributing when purchasing things. I guess...

If a pink hose is the difference between money going to a cause vs. someone NOT writing a check, than hooray for the pink hose. People not giving back at all...now that is irksome.

"I need a hose. If I buy the pink one, they'll give some money." = logical, if you need a hose.
