Waverly, MN (pop. 732) has more than its share of gawker slowdowns. In fact, that’s how we found this once-Presbyterian church, now a house with landscape in a constant state of transformation. This is a secret garden right on the main drag.

Designed in evolution and by intuition, it’s really a series of mini-gardens and small features - Asian, cacti, woodsy, gazebo. It works because each is spaced, placed and elevated to present itself one by one. Continuing themes of aged metalwork and whimsy emerge. Every turn has a new surprise.
The garden and just about everything in it was created by owners Michael and Michael, former flower shop owners. We can’t wait to see what it looks like next time, when we return for the home tour.
