Gifts for the Design Obsessed Dad: Eames Dot Series Goods

eames111808.jpg We all know some one who is a design fanatic - heck, most of us reading this site probably fall into that category. In honor of the obsession, we've got our eye out for some good gifts that meet our (loosely defined) requirements: some design cred, not too pricey and truly useful if at all possible. The first in our series is this collection...

Avoid Unica home at all costs - go to Epinions and read the reviews - I learned first hand and am sorry I didn't research them more before ordering

i would avoid unica home as well. My mom was being nice and ordered the carrie bike basket for my wife. But she said the order page kept on screwing up and it wouldn't place. So she had me do it. Everything was fine, the basket came. Then 2 weeks later a second one came. So we called them up and they said the first one placed. We asked why there was no e-mail confirmation, and they said because the form didn't work right and didn't accept the address. They hassled here on taking back, tried only to do store credit, finally did it but with all shipping charges at our cost and took a month and a half to put it back on her CC.

None the less, i wasn't impressed with the eames b-card holder. it felt cheap and the image on the front just didn't look that good. It would be nicer laser etched into a standard metal case.

That's too bad, I kind of like these gift ideas.

nice ideas, though i think whoever is marketing these things should also design the actual items instead of just slapping eames designs on cheap massmade incentives and promos trinkets that are normally given away free by the tons. sorry
