Some people love Valentine's Day and others hate it, but if you can see the holiday as an opportunity to connect with yourself, your home, and maybe even someone you love, it's not so bad. Give yourself or someone else the gift of time (click here for free gift ideas), or you can take the material route. Click below for modern valentines:

For Christmas one year I bought my boyfriend a telescope. The following Valentine's day he bought me a star. Even though I know it's not official and some think that money for a piece of paper that doesn't mean anything is a waste, I still thought it was a pretty romantic idea.
Since we love to cook, this year we decided to treat ourselves to a cooking class, and we also decided to buy each other aprons since our old ones are in dire need of replacing.
