The "Big Jars" by glass artist Elizabeth Lyons have so much going for them: beautiful strong colors (especially wonderful in multiples), gorgeous, simple shapes (the ball stopper is the perfect counterpoint to their long, lean line) and the smartness of a multi-purpose item that you'll want to have around for a long time (it works as-is as a decorative object, on the tabletop as a decanter or as a vase for fresh flowers)....

These really are beautiful. But I'm wondering... does anyone actually ever use their decanters? I have purchased them for decoration and never actually put them to use. I don't need another beautiful object collecting dust. What say you?

I agree w/ you. They're quite attractive, but they're not appropriate for decanting wine, they're not right for spirits either, they're also not great for a bedside carafe since it has a stopper rather than a glass...

While they're not "functional" they are a beautiful design (retro looking) as well as lovely when placed somewhere light can move through them. I have a frankly unattractive bedroom window lined with interesting sealed bottles filled with colored water which look incredible during certain times of the day. (My total cost? Maybe $3.00!)

They look like chess pieces! (not that it's necessarily a bad thing)
