Glassware by D-Bros

Design is fun. The designers behind D-Bros say that they want to produce products that convey that message. Satoru Miyata and Minako Nakaoka started the D-Bros project is 1995 in Tokyo. They design accessories of all types, with a strong graphic design slant. Our favorites are the glasses, such as the Fairytale in a Glass shown here and the others below the jump...

We love that these are clever and pretty. The concept of fun clearly comes across, with the trickery of light and shadow and the translucency of glass playing a role in the design of these pieces.

For instance, the wolf grows to frightening proportions when viewed through a full water glass...

They are wildly expensive (starting at $75), but we thought they were worth a look for inspiration and to add a little whimsy to the front page today...

There is plenty more to see at the D-Bros site.

Saha -
I believe they are also available online from de de ce , the site that I linked each of the items to...there is an order button and shopping cart on the de de ce site in addition to listing brick and mortar retailers (like the South Wales shop).

These are really neat glasses. They remind me of my favorite glasses from Urban Outfitters...a bit cheaper- only $6.

Pretty! I love glass, in general - does anyone know what kind of paint one could use to paint one's own glassware? For handwashing, clearly, but a paint that would be safe and relatively durable on a highball glass or something?

I love these--I wish they were nearer my budget.

Nora - usually they have food safe glass paint at crafts stores in the paint section. I'm not sure what type of paint it is though
