Kathleen Hills' Quirky Space

1-30-08hills2.jpg

Maybe the bloggers at AT are on a similar wavelength? We wrote this post about English designer Kathleen Hills and then discovered that Danielle was one step ahead of us at AT:SF. Since our post was a little different, we figured we'd go with it. Click here to read the post on Hills' Pin Light. We noticed the light, too, and thought that the photo Danielle featured was one example of some intriguing product stylings...

Hills is based in the UK. A 2002 graduate of the Royal College of Art, she creates ceramics with an edge. Many of them are embellished with patterns she cuts and assembles by hand. We were most drawn to a spot on her site that features installations of some of her favorite products. Hills' off-beat sense of humor comes through in each of these photos...

Does anyone know where to find those "hand" coat hooks. They don't appear to be on Hills' website...

The white versions can be found at Unica Home: http://www.unicahome.com/p37847/hand-hooks-by-harry-allen-frosted.html

They're a bit creepy, but cool at the same time. I just wish he would produce a bird flipping model!

Harry Allen's look similar, but not exactly like those pictured.
I wonder why her elephant stools are so shiny, mine is quite matte, just like these: http://www.nova68.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=21002101&Category_Code=170

I love the hands but unfortunately the only left hand (at Unica Home, anyway) is a candleholder -- the hooks are all right hands, which just won't do.
