Kinnersly China from Watts Contemporaries

9-20-07wattscontemporaries.jpg

Oooold school. The Kinnersly line of china is inspired by wallpaper designed by George Frederick Bodley in the 1870s. Produced by Watts Contemporaries in England, the Kinnsersly line and other Watts products are based on designs in the Watts archive of wallpaper and furnishings dating back to 1874. We love the red-and-turquoise color combination with the gold lining. Despite being so old-fashioned, these metallic pieces are totally trendy according to Janel's Design Home Trend Report.

You can purchase online - Watts ships internationally. The conversion rate makes these items pretty pricey (about $118 for the cup and saucer shown above, excluding shipping).

This is a beautiful piece of art using the cup and saucer simply as its canvas. I don't know if I could even bring myself to use them. Truly elegant with an Asian flair I love.
