apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Pol's Potten Blossom Glasses

2007-04-16-pols.jpg We couldn't resist the charms of these Pol's Potten glasses from Holland. We scooped up these six colors ($14. each) on Saturday at Barneys when we were supposed to be shopping for new sneakers...
Instead of walking on by, we convinced ourselves that a good Apartment Therapist should take a peek in to Barney's Chelsea Passage and before you know it, these were being wrapped up.

We love them for so many reasons: they are chunky, heavy glass yet have a dainty cherry blosssom motif. The colors range from candy colored to deep and dramatic. The design is seriously applied - sandblasted right into the glass for a nice mix of matte and clear. This hues of colored glass reminded my Dutch husband of the old fashioned barware that his parents had from their parents, yet the blossoms give a distinct Chinese feel for a good euro/asian mashup.

We think they will be the perfect dinner time glasses for this spring and summer, and will make for a happy-looking, eclectic table with our blue Willow plates.

Anyone else pick up something new for the home this weekend?

They're certainly lovely, but is anyone else turned off by the name? Pol's Potten? Pol Pot?

I have toyed with the idea of buying the same glasses. I love them (especially the red and orange)
