Vases from TranSglass

0404transglass1.jpgWe are suckers for recycling something banal into something beautiful. Dutch designer Tord Boontje and wife, glass artist Emma Woffenden have created TranSglass, a line of signature glass vases that turn the everyday wine or beer bottle into a sculptural centerpiece.

Although some TranSglass pieces now belong to the Museum of Modern Art and London's Design Museum, the vases and decanters still live at everyday prices. Carried at Chicago's I.D., you'll find varied shades of green and brown glass vases from $25-$45. 0404transglass3.jpg

I love ID, but I don't know how much longer these vases will be there -- they turn over their stuff PDQ!

These vases are lovely! Especially the ones that are kind of like tuning forks; they look kind of like leaves of flowers that grow from bulbs
