CHI Good Questions: Decorator in Milwaukee?

2008-05-08-milwaukee.jpgAlana is looking for a decorator: "I just wanted to contact you in regards to the possibility of you being able to recommend a decorator/interior designer in the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin. I have looked over the Interior Design Directory under Wisconsin and it's the most un-user-friendly website ever. I really just need someone that can help me add the last little touches and make a room cohesive. Any suggestions would be much appreciated or just a point in the next right direction."

Don't know anyone in Milwaukee... But, have you tried Crate and Barrel Furniture or another furniture store? A lot of designers, real interior designers, work there and do freelance on the side. May be worth checking into. Someone you can pay by the hour to give you some ideas...

Contact the design programs at universities in Milwaukee (university of wisconsin, MATC, Mount Mary, etc) because they would have students who would love to develop their portfolios, will have fresh ideas, and will be inexpensive.

I think contacting students (or just recent grads) is a great idea. They need money, would charge less, and are up to date.

I myself am graduating at the end of the month from the Savannah College of Art & Design (currently the number 1 Interior Design graduate program) and will most likely move to Milwaukee.

If you are able to wait until mid June I would be more than happy to be your designer!
