Our Sales Calendar from yesterday brought in an email question from Megan: "Several people posted on the comment thread of your CHI Sale Calendar post yesterday asking about the coffee table in the top picture, and I'm interested too! The caption seems to indicate it's from Ikea, but I don't see any trace of it on the web site. Any help would be much appreciated."
Megan - that photo was grabbed yesterday from the current IKEA site, but after doing a little digging, we found that it features some items that have been discontinued.
We looked up the original info in our old IKEA catalogs for you, in hopes that perhaps an eBay or Craigs search by that name will help locate a used one.
The coffee table you like is called the LAGFORS. It was designed by Richard Clack and cost $129. The last IKEA catalog that we see it featured in is 2006.
The rug that was also asked about in the comment thread is the FREJA. It was designed by Kazuyo Nomura and cost $59.99. We found it in the 2007 catalog.
Sorry for tempting folks with an older IKEA photo - perhaps an AT reader might have one or the other that they are ready to get rid of or some oher suggestions for tracking one down. If so, let us know in the comments...
That IKEA rug is probably still available there. The rugs don't change that frequently.

The coffee table is definitely IKEA. I have loved it ever since I have seen it.

I am also positive the coffee table is from IKEA. I don't see it on their site either...they must not make it anymore?

I used to have that table. Got it from Ikea. They don't offer it anymore. I gave mine to my old roommate.

The rug is a very old design based on the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth from around 1200:

You'll find it repeated everywhere, on a wood floor here in Calgary:

There's a labyrinth society too:

Fascinating stuff.

The rug was available in blue or green, and there was a cushion/pillow too:

And it made it into the religious blogs:

This IS one good reason to browse online, browse sites fairly regularly. I know that you visited here on AT and expected that all the items shown would be current.
However, even on big magazine sites, they are using images that are so old, I have the same images in my decor book they made (BHG) from a good 20 years ago. The IDEA of some of the things is still a GOOD idea. Like room arrangements or personalizing mass-produced items. But the specific items shown are no longer on the market.
So if you want the LOOK, you can duplicate it. But if you want the specific ITEM, forget about it. It's long gone. It's frustrating, I know.
The funny part is that often times the things you find and like NOW, you would not have been interested in then.
That is one main reason to stay up to date on trends. You don't have to follow them, by buying everything that is produced. But if you have always loved a certain color or style and it reaches the forefront of a trend, you can finally get things in the colors or styles you have wished for.

Not exactly where and when you need it, but they still exist:

One was being sold this year, in March, in London.
The table is not that old. But it may start showing up locally as people move or redecorate. Don't give up hope.
