CHI Good Questions: Less Expensive Version of this Table?

2008-03-03-questiontable.jpg
Christopher sent us a good question: "I recently saw a beautiful coffee table at Jayson Home & Garden. It has a dark metal welded frame and a reclaimed wooden inset top. The price is $1395, as I recall. A similar version is available on their website (with a glass top instead of a wooden one and slightly smaller in scale than the wooden version) for $1675. Any suggestions as to other sources? Loving the table, hating the price. I know Room & Board has a similar table, but the frame is a little chunkier, not as sophisticated. Thanks for your help!"

Here are three options that we found during a quick internet search - none are an exact match to the (very nice!) Jayson table:

Less chunky than most of the options we came across, this one from Pottery Barn ($399) is similar, but it adds a second shelf to the design.

Quite a bit chunkier than the Jayson table, but interesting since it features the reclaimed wood top you mentioned, this one from Arhaus is currently on sale for $449.

A very skinny option from Room and Board, the scale is close to the Jayson Table, but it has the second shelf and the material is totally different - it is all metal. From Room & Board, $499.

Can anyone add to the list of other options and sources for Christopher? Let us know in the comments...

A little more modern but pretty close... and $199. CB2's smart coffee table:

I'll bet you could go out and buy a glass table top and then go to a local welding shop or metal fabricating shop or maybe a community college with a metal working class and they could make that frame for you to fit the glass for not much more than the cost of the materials.

if you can accomodate different dimensions, viva terra has a 2 table set for under 1/2 the price:

Crate & Barrel has the Tres Table that looks like the one you like, plus two matching side tables -- use either together or as end tables, too. $899.
