CHI Good Questions: Similar Sofa to the Sahara?

2008-04-08-sahara.jpgKim sent in an email: "I was wondering if you might have any suggestions where I could find a sofa similar to this in style? It is the Sahara sofa from Domicile. However, Domicile is located in Lincolnwood and I cannot justify a trip there. I tried to determine the manufacturer but an internet search was unsuccessful and Domicile would not tell me the manufacturer. Thank you!"

Ok -- maybe the arms a little wider, and its a little cheaper... Actually, its probably closer the URBN couch in quality.

I finally received my Corona from Macy's back on Valentine's Day (after ordering it the first week in December...)

But! Once it did arrive, the couch is fabulous. It's comfy, and looks very nice. I got the pear sofa and a chair in the cafe noir (super dark brown).

And! It's on sale right now with 6 months of no payments, so you really can't go wrong.

ooooh, sorry. It was on sale obscenely cheap last week. Looks like maybe the sale is off now.

I am lusting after the Corona after looking at it this weekend. Macy's is going to discount it even further, to $650, tomorrow. Also, when you spend over $1k you can put off payments for a year, so I'll prob get an ottoman (most likely the white arielle) from Macy's too. I'll be opening a Macy's account this weekend to get an additional 10% off of it. :)

Also, Macy's has a no-worries warranty for around $70. The saleswoman said that if the couch stained within 7 years, the warranty would cover it. If after 7 years we haven't used the warranty, Macy's will give you a $70 credit. No reason not to get the warranty!

That sofa does indeed look more like the Bantam than the Corona. However, I also have the Corona sofa and ottoman in Pear, and the chair in Cafe Noir. I was going to splurge on the Bantam and am glad that I didn't, the Corona is far more comfortable in my opinion and looks high quality considering the price.

wow people are flocking towards the corona... me too

my pear sofa and 2 chairs in cafe noir should be here around the 18th.

the macys warranty is sort of a good idea (for my 3 peice set it would be another $160) but we're skipping on it. if anything does get on it, you have to call them within 2 weeks for them to clean it. i figured i wouldn't really call them everytime and it would be kind of a hassle. and after 7 years they won't be replacing it if it's just worn from nomal use.

My Corona sofa is being delivered as I write this. I purchased it several months ago and am just getting it now. I recommend going to the Macy's furniture gallery (I went to the one in Schaumburg) since there are additional color swatches there that don't appear online.

How far away IS Lincolnwood? Seems that a purchase as major as a sofa, especially one you seem so drawn to, is worth a road trip.

Lincolnwood is just outside of the city, NNW side. Schaumburg and Oakbrook and the other burbs are much farther.

I have the Jasper sofa from Room & Board, in oatmeal, and I love it. It's comfortable AND stain resistant. :)

this piece is made by a company called "younger furniture" out of N.C the style is "40535 - Apartment Sofa" you can actually find this line, and this sofa at Rubin's Contemporary Furniture at 3045 n. Lincoln Ave. I used to work there so if you end up taking a trip there ask for an associate by the name of Stanley, he'll help you out!

Good Luck

I just got the Corona Loveseat with a great sale, plus a $200.00 off gift certificate. I've yet to put the legs on it as I REALLY want to have blond wood for the legs and am hoping to find someone in LA who can fabricate them for me. (Anyone got ideas). Even without the legs, it's VERY, VERY comfortable.

Domicile also has an outlet/clearance center in Evanston on Green Bay Rd. It might be worth calling to see if they have any of this model sofa there.

I got the Corona as well when it was on sale. Got it delivered in 2 weeks and applied for the Macy's card when I got it getting me another $100 off and 6 months no payments. The stain protection is also another amazing reason to get it. Covered for 7 years and if you don't use it you get a Macy's gift certificate for the $70. Had the couch little over 2 months now and still like it a lot.
