Amy's looking for suggestions: "I need a shallow console table for this wall (below the artwork).
I am having a hard time finding something with storage that is not to intrusive in the room and is very affordable!
Any ideas?"

We'd suggest taking a look at the Thomas O'Brien Vintage Modern Console from Target.
It has the storage you are looking for and we like when the types of storage are varied - this piece has shelves, drawers and a cabinet.
The size is modest, meaning it won't overwhelm the space available. It's dimensions are 31Hx51Wx22D".
It's just wood composite and veneers, so we are REALLY not talking heirloom quality here, but it is very affordable. It's on sale currently for $239.99.
We recently were admiring a really gorgeous vintage credenza that the owner said she picked up through Direct Auction Galleries, which may be worth a look. It's hit or miss as to what they may have when you visit and the price would most likely be a bit higher, but so would the quality.
AT design minds, speak up...please share your ideas and suggestions for Amy's (low cost) console search.
Check out the Tribeca Diamond Cabinet/sideboard. It's available for about $250 and comes in a variety of sizes and finishes.
Thomas O'Brien has a couple of nice ones in his line available at Target.
west elm also has a nice credenza though a bit more pricey at $599: http://www.westelm.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODf289&storeId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId=17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE-SH1FRNTBL&retainNav=true&cmsrc=WE-SH1FRNTBL
and ikea has some sideboards wirth checking out: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=12&catalogId=10103&langId=-1&topcategoryId=15561&parentCats=15561*15639*15644&categoryId=15644&cattype=sub

looks like what you're after as its low and its affordable.
Ikea has affordable options. Also, try Westelm and Potterybarn. And the table from Target looks sharp too.
Going off the beaten track...
Sometimes an ottoman bench works wonderfully in a space akin to yours. All depending, of course, what type of storage you have in mind. Long, narrow with fold-up or flip-over top, and can do double duty as table or seating.
For the frugal and creative minded... sometimes a conventional tall bookcase turned on its side serves great function, and can look like a narrow console table. Even local thrift shops can have some diamonds in the rough...
Have fun exploring your options...
