Good Question: Nice Futon Cover?

2007-05-14-zoom.jpgRebekah sent us an email: I am about to move and will be using my futon frame and it's inner-spring futon mattress as an additional couch in my new apartment. I'd like to find an attractive and well-fitted futon slip cover for it, and all I've been able to find are solid colors and really tacky nineties-style patterns.
The frame is wood varnished dark brown, so an abstract in something gold or brown would be perfect. (This fabric is from Kokka.)

Thanks so much for any help.

2007-05-14-piccadilly_single.jpgWe like the futon covers available from Tonic Living, an online shop that we blogged back in January. They are a family business who pride themselves on the quality of their work and customer service, which makes us think that even though its a sight unseen purchase, it may all work out just fine.

They offer covers in lots of upbeat, fun geometric, stripe and floral prints many of which include browns, often along with limes, blues, aquas (or pink!) if you decide to add some more color into the mix.

2007-05-14-farrowlime.jpgMade from stain resistant sailcloth, the covers are priced at $69.95 US and matching or coordinating pillows are also available. Tonic Living is having a sale this week (in honor of Mother's Day), so if your order is over $100., you will receive 15% off if you use the coupon code MOTHER at the checkout page.

Anyone else have futon cover suggestions for Rebekah? Let us know....

I was going to suggest using sheets. Make a giant "bag" and
slip the futon in. But, after rereading your comment, I guess that wouldn't exactly be a well fitting slip cover.

Do you sew? You could check out pattern books at Joanns fabric or any fabric store. I recently did that and was surprised at the patterns available. It's worth a shot.

Is there a cover already on the futon? You could take the fabric off and use that for your pattern.
