Good Questions: Anyone Know about a Similar Chair?

012307vintagechair.jpgDear AT,

I ran across this beautiful chair from a store in San Francisco. It's shorter than what I'm looking for (only 29" high). I'd love to find a store in Chicago that sells similar furniture.

Barring that, does anyone know what this style of chair is called so I can hunt for another version online?

Thanks!
Emily

Dear Emily,

Great find! We love the arched back of this piece so much. While it looks similar to many Danish Modern pieces we've seen, we did a quick search and couldn't find the exact (or taller) match online or even in our trusty Chairs: A History book that we are plowing through. We saw a similar "Red Lotus" chair to this on eBay a while back, but we don't know if that's its official name. Our search came up empty.

We'd suggest scouring the city's antique stores that carry a lot of mid-century modern stuff and dragging that picture with you everywhere you go.

And, as always, we'd love to hear what our readers have to say...! Thoughts?

Wow! That is an amazing chair. I guess 29" does see a little short, though.

Emily, you have great taste. Would you like to have dinner sometime?
