Good Questions: Best of These Modern-Style Sectionals?

csinteriors061109.jpgTayo send in a good question: I am new to AT and have what is probably a really basic question, but what the heck. I live in a nicely upgraded condo, that has been dismally under-furnished for months now. I know exactly the couch I am looking for and it is of a style that I would say is relatively ubiquitous in modern design. I am referring to the swanky, clean-lined boxy sectional with thin chrome legs, sort of like the one in the picture on this post. I am wondering which designers make couches in this style, and where I can find the best one (best=comfortable and cheap {ish}) ?

Seems like a question with an obvious answer, given that you see couches in that style EVERYWHERE! But therein lies the problem, there are so many of them out there, how's a guy to know which one is the best?? Please help, I'm tired of watching 'Good Eats' re-runs on my floor pillows!!

Best,
-Couchless in Chicago (a.k.a. Tayo)

West Elm - they have a number of armless sectionals like this one.

There's an ebay store, my all-time favorite, called Designer Furniture Shop. I think, although it's never been stated, that it's an outlet for DWR. I've purchased the Cubit and Cubitec shelving from them for less than half-price. They have overstocked pieces, damaged pieces, dirty pieces. But the markdowns can be tremendous. At the moment they have Libre sectional pieces in charcoal grey for sale. Don't know your budget, but it's worth a look.

I have a modern sectional from West Elm, and I love it. It's held up really well in the time I've had it (admittedly short - 1 and a half years), and it gets great compliments. I know some of their other furniture may be iffy, according to other reviews, but I've only been happy.

The only difference with your question is almost all of their sofas have wood, not metal, legs. They have a new armless sectional line, though, which may meet your needs:

The armless sectional from West Elm is great - it's also about to come out in brown leather.

i can't believe no one on staff mentioned the couch guy. since y'all are the ones who pimped him. (and because he can make what you want, and do it for less than you can find anywhere else.)
