Good Questions: Desk Bases Sold Separately?

sawhorse021109.jpgErin sent in a good question: I am trying to configure a home office and need help. I purchased Ikea’s Vika Lerberg trestles to support a Vika Glasholm glass tabletop, even though I’m not completely satisfied with them. I’d really prefer trestles that have more of a high-end feel, like West Elm’s Sawhorse worktable.

Since I am satisfied with the glass top, I don’t want to purchase a whole new desk, just the base. Can anyone help me find sources that sell separate bases at a reasonable price? I’d also consider different base shapes.

Please share your ideas and suggestions with Erin in the comments...thanks!

Just guessing, but I'm betting that you'll find that trestles that look that nice will cost you about the same as buying the West Elm desk. Can you take the glass back or sell it on craigslist?

a guy on Top Design did a glass-top desk with industrial sawhorses that looked GREAT... go to homedepot.com and type "sawhorses" into the search window... glad you reminded me, I think I'll use this idea for my kitchen table!
