Good Questions: Furniture for a Small Patio?

2007-08-10pix.jpgSarah emailed us: "I'm moving into a fabulous apartment that has a small patio, looking for some furniture that is comfortable, but stylish. This has been tough to find, as I only have room for two chairs and a shared tabled. Any recommendations??"

Sarah, congratulations on the new apartment and getting some outside space. It's a good time to shop for outdoor furniture...

For a modern patio, we really like the Pix table by Peter Shaffner from DWR (above) available in green, red or black. It comes in two sizes, Cafe ($200.) or Side ($100.). It can be disassembled and stored flat during the off season. We might pair it with two Ronde Armchairs ($89) by Aldo Ciabatti, a typical European cafe seating choice.

Two other (completely different) looks:

The Parisian Park Dining Set from Smith and Hawken with armchairs on sale, $279.

For a more traditional look that maximizes small spaces, a two-seater for $189. from Overstock

Anyone have any recommendations/ideas for Sarah? Please let us know in the comments...

Hit those stores now. That stuff is nearly closed out. It's August, time to think about fall and no retailer wants to hang on to bulky outdoor furniture.
