Catherine (and her Grandfather) have a question - she writes: My grandfather has been searching for information regarding this painting. He saw it in a nursing home and the staff graciously offered to take it off of the wall and look the see if they could find any identifying information. They were not able to find anything indicating its origins or artist.

Totally on a whim (and bored at work), I googled images for "dinner party painting". And lo and behold, I found it!

The painting is titled "A Dinner Party" by Grun, Jules Alexandre

My sister-in-law's parents have this painting in their dining room, and I was wondering who it was by as well. Thanks Ruth :)

Wow, great job Ruth!
I probably wouldn't buy from that site you mentioned though, as they are not prints from the original. Rather, they are another artist's interpretation.

They're all copies wc-canuck. It'd have to be a pretty swanky nursing home to afford the original. And believe me, they'd know who the artist was.
It appears that the name of the piece is Fin de Souper, "End of Dinner" or "After Dinner." Here's a bio on the painter. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/15/161/
