I saw a display of Project Runway fabrics at the Hancock Fabric store in Edgewater a few weeks back. I couldn't tell you if they are stocked chain-wide.

I'd second the recommendation to go to Vogue in Evanston. They have an overwhelming selection of fabrics.

It's not very Project Runway, but you gotta go to Textile Discount Outlet in Pilsen. It's huge, and cheap!

cde's right. The Textile Discount Outlet - at 2121 W. 21st Street - is amazing. You could literally spend all day in there.

Fishman's has some amazing stuff, but I can't afford 95% of what they carry. Vogue is a great alternative for doing projects on the cheap. I haven't checked out the Hancock in Edgewater... is it worth a visit?

I'm laughing at the notion of a "project runway style fabric store." Mood existed way before the show and there are dozens of other shops in that area that carry the same, if not a better selection. Just go the your local fashion district. Chicago's a big enough town to have a few different fabric purveyors.

I think Tim Gunn is Charles Nelson Reilly's long lost son.

Our selection is somewhat niche, but we carry only independent designers that you can't find in chain stores . . . Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Anna Maria Horner, etc and many japanese imports!

Just checked out the selection at The Needle Shop. EXTREMELY on-target when it comes to design/color trends, and very friendly folks.
