Good Questions: Review of this Urban Outfitters Sofa?

sam100308.jpegSam is looking for some feedback: I've seen this couch and almost bought it at from Urban Outfitters for the past three years...The only reason I haven't is I have never seen it in person or even in a picture of somebody's apartment, and I have seen a few other UO pieces that have looked a bit cheap in person...

I was just wondering if anyone can give me a review of what it looks like in person or even better, a picture of it in their apartment.

Can anyone help Sam out? Please add your comments to the thread...

we have one by the dressing room in our womens boutique and it has seen a lot of use in the last 6 months. Its mainly made of particle board and it made me a little nervous as we were putting it together, but the pieces are solid and have seemed to hold up well so far.

the fabric has not pilled or shown wear, and has cleaned up well if anyone has spilled on it. it does wrinkle a bit in the arms ( you can see it in the pic if you know its there) but overall is holding its shape well.

I wouldnt call it the best quality/value out there by any means, but it is a solid piece and the style looks great.

i would say 6 months of commercial use is = to about 2 years in a home or so.

hope that helps!

WAY back in the day I had a chaise similar to this, and I got so much grief for it. It was dubbed "the whore lounger."

every few weeks someone posts a pics from urban, and asks the same question- "what about the quality??"

I know this is a forum,
but is there any chance AT has the pull to swing a sample and answer the question once and for all?

I was coveting UO's sofas too, but someone I know who works there says they are pretty cheaply made. :/ I ended up finding a gorgeous chaise with a free sign on it instead!

Target has the exact same chaise called Button Tufted Chaise Settee, although in different colors, for a lot less and right now there is free shipping.

So I have one of these guys in my living room and have a total love/hate relationship with the thing.

If you're looking for comfort, this is NOT a couch for you. If you're taller than 4'10" and looking for a couch you can lounge on, this is NOT the couch for you. If you have a lot of guests and people are going to be sitting on it a lot, it really won't hold its shape too well and this is NOT the couch for you.

On the contrary, if you're looking for a little sofa you can sit and read or do your homework on, or as occassional seating, this is definitely the couch for you. For the price, it's gorgeous (although I would totally recommend buying it from Target - the price is way more reasonable & it is literally the EXACT same couch) and not totally uncomfortable. I guess it just depends on your taste. I totally thought it was going to be big enough to seat three people... it really only seats two. But we've gotten a ton of compliments on it and we really love the way it looks.

Essentially, it's not a good investment piece. However - if you can afford to replace it in a few years/keep the usage to a minimum, the couch will serve you well.
