Info on Leather Sofa with Small Hole Pattern?
Good Questions

hiltonsm120809.jpgQ: I was recently in the Hilton Suites Magnificent Mile Hotel in Chicago and fell in love with the sofas in the lobby. They are made of a cognac leather with extremely deep seats. The interesting part was the texture of the leather, which almost has a pocked quality to it. There are small holes all over the leather as if to give it room to breathe.

Here is the best picture I could find of the lobby where the sofas are. My question is: has anyone been there and knows where to find these exact sofas, or something similar?

I'm going with pigskin

I don't know if there are big enough pieces of leather in an ostrich hide to make a couch... seems like it would be prohibitively expensive, too... though it could be ostrich-look vinyl, maybe?

Hi everyone, I emailed the question in. Thanks for your comments so far! The more I have researched I have found the type of leather is actually a perforated leather, commonly found in Italian racing cars. I still don't know where to find a sofa with this type of leather though. Please help! Thanks!

Did you call the hotel and ask them?

Contact a designer who has access to to-the-trade materials for a custom sofa.

And here's one in white, reasonably priced.

I am sure that Italian leather purveyors supply it as well, but here is a Scottish source:

Since it is not a common option for a sofa, you would need to go custom (not as expensive as it sounds). After deciding on the shape, frame, filling, etc., you then just specify this leather, and they take care of it (you don't buy the leather, they do).

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone, I did contact the hotel, and of course, they never got back to me. So far, the closest match has been the sofa at ambientfurniture.com. Thanks for the help!
