Cute brick bungalow?

Well, it's a cute house. But, as you point out, it isn't really brick. And it isn't a bungalow.

If you replace the brick veneer, I hope you'll choose to go with wood siding or wood shingles. Then, paint them just about any color you like -- the roof color is pretty neutral and would "go" with just about anything, I believe, as would the white trim. Consider it a blank canvas and go with what you love. Maybe tan or yellow? You could add shutters in a contrasting color for more interest. Good luck!

Cute place! I'd go with wood siding in a creamy butter yellow.

Bear in mind that if you put real brick on you may need to match a roof to the brick down the road a bit.

...why not choose cedar-shingle siding - and just let it naturally weather to a nice grey?

I think you shouldn't overlook the colors predominating in your neighborhood when deciding on a color. Are most of the houses brick? Wood? Stucco? And if so, what colors are used. I think you will want something in keeping with your surroundings.

That said, I agree that a warm tone would harmonize with the roof. I like terracotta (since the bricks look so nice), or soft golden yellow, even olive green. But creamy white and yellow always look nice, too. So does white with a red trim.

i think that the cedar shake idea would be a good match, but it may contrast too much with your roof.

it's important to keep the overall feel of the design in check. i love the wood siding option. you can paint it any color you choose. it never goes out of style. it isn't made of chemicals.

We repainted recently and spent a lot of time thinking about color. We wanted to do something modern and fresh without veering too far from the 1910 style of the house. We opted for white trim and a deep blue-gray for the house. Our roof color is similar to yours. We're really happy with the way it turned out (though you really have to be careful when painting with dark colors as they are more finicky when it comes to temperature and humidity).

Also, if you're putting up new siding, think about something with a small exposure. This really seems to look sharp on smaller houses.

While mulling over all the advice, you can check out this site that will allow you to pick the house closest to yours, put your roof color on it and try out different colors and styles of siding and trims.

The possibilities are endless and it's a great way to get a
sneak peak before making a commitment.

I don't think the other houses in the neighborhood matter...pick what you love and want to live with.

i love the gray weathered shingle idea too or a light grayish blue with white trim. There's a bungalow on my street that's cream flat stucco with black trim that i also love...

Yellow! It looks good with brick and with your roof color, and looks great with white trim.

Blue houses don't sell. I would never go with weathered shingles, ends up looking drab and unkempt unless it's in the woods next to a lake.

I agree that yellow would be great, but not a bright glare of yellow, something soft, creamy, like one of the previous posters suggested a butter yellow.

Would you ever go with stucco?

Chocolate brown or Medium grey. Great house btw.

a dark gray could look very new england beachy. i think that would look nice.

You're going to have a lot of work to do with the window trim, unless you are boxing out the framing (and then there's the foundation to mask, even with 2" brick - which seems rather thick, you could just use, say, a z-brick type product for that) - essentially building a new structure of 2x4's where the masonry was.

I vote for gray and white. Leave everything that's already white and change the other things to a nice, soft dove gray.
