8 Things to Recycle as you Declutter

3-30-09recycling.jpg

Rather than spring cleaning, we usually embark on a couple weeks of spring decluttering. We round up any unwanted items that have been collecting over the last few months and send them on their way. For those who are cleaning out the junk drawer or hauling donation boxes out the door, we've rounded up a list of common household items that can be recycled...

• If old furniture won't sell on craigslist or ebay, try posting it to freecycle.
• To find out the top 10 places to recycle your old cell phone, click here.
Packing peanuts are accepted by UPS stores for recycling.
• For a list of organizations and foundations that recycle old eyeglasses, click here.
• Books can be donated to your local library or to an organization listed here.
• For tips on where to recycle your old batteries, click here.
• If you're buying a new appliance, many retailers will recycle the old one for you.
• In Illinois, stores participating Partners for Waste Paint will accept unused household paint.

ooo I had no idea ups recycles those things. I never know what to do with them and feel bad throwing them away or taking up space in a bag in the closet.
