While riding around town this summer (we've been logging lots of miles) we've seen many construction sites (not a surprise)- and many of them are part of the Green Permit program. We saw signs on the sites touting the program, but didn't know the details, and now we do. It's an incentive to "build green".
Chicago's Department of Construction and Permits will expedite the permit process (and will possibly waive consultant code review fees) for projects that demonstrate green strategy implementation.
Some examples from the green menu of strategies and technologies that will help a project to qualify for the permit program:
Green Roof
Renewable Energy
Accessibility
On-Site Power Generation
Transit-Oriented Development
Exceptional Water Management
Natural Ventilation
