Great information! I had this marked on my calendar to pick one up. Unfortunately, my compost site will be designated to my rooftop and this model won't work for me, as it needs to sit on bare soil.

After following your link, the unit listed just below the Earth Machine, the Eco Cycle Base Tumbler looks like it will function perfectly for my situation.

Anybody use this "fully enclosed" type?

I'd love to compost, but my apartment doesn't have any outdoor space. Also, it's just me, and while I'm a vegetarian, I don't generate that much food waste. Does anyone have any ideas/experience with smaller, indoor composting units? Does such a thing exist and/or work?

Thanks!

Our town sold us ours several years ago for $10 each (same model). They're fine--ours has held up. I can't say I stir it up or anything, so it's just a container to hold scraps, but if you pay attention to it I'm sure it would work. And even at $30 it's cheaper than a lot of other things I've seen in catalogs.

I bought one of these for my folks last year (I"m in the city, they're not), and it's pretty great. It does take up a lot of room; I couldn't put my arms around it. It's a steal at $30.
