Dirt Candles

120506dirtcandles.jpgWe discovered these Dirt Candles on the Monarch's Heaven website today. Judging from their online popularity and widespread Chicago presence, we're probably a bit behind on this all-natural product made from organically grown soybeans, essential oils, and recycled paper and glass.

Dirt Candles come in various scents and amusing names such as Catch 22, Old School, Love Machine, and Bah Humbug. Most importantly, a portion of the profits from each candle go to various charitable organizations.

speaking of, can anyone recommend a candle that clears the air, doesn't break the bank, and doesn't smell like one of the desserts they serve at cracker barrel? i'm really getting tired of my apartment smelling like fresh rain, spring mountain, grandma's apple pie, and rhubarb & pear.

eric,

i really like pacific candles, which are sold at whole foods. there are lots of spicy scents if that's more of your style. plus they're soy candles, so they burn clear.

Not a candle, but Papier d'Armenie is wonderful for clearing the air. Even the smells that polluted my condo after I self-cleaned the oven.
