Domino's Top Earth-Friendly Rugs

031708domino1.jpgThis is a great room - in large part because of the veggie-dyed hemp rug (available from Classic Rug) anchoring the natural, simple overall look. This time last year (March '07), Domino profiled a few top picks for earth-friendly rugs, and since we're in the market, we thought some of you might be too. Other great suggestions welcome! I love natural rugs; however, if you spill anything on them, especially something like red wine, that rug is permanently ruined.

One exception, though, are water hyacinth rugs, which I purchased at Crate and Barrel. I find them incredibly durable (take it out and spray it down with hose) and soft on the feet.

Let me clarify - when I mean "natural" rugs, I was referring to natural fiber rugs, like sisal and coir. And not rugs, like, wool.

Anyone have any information on the chair in the first picture? I've been looking for something similar but haven't found the right one yet.

I got a beautiful felt rug from Peace Industry-- which I first heard about here. The materials and production methods sound very earth-and-people friendly. The shipping (from Iran) is probably not so ecologically ideal, but I guess that's the trade off. And the designs are great. Check 'em out.

jredburn - That's a PK22 Easy Chair. In wicker as the one in the picture is, I believe they cost $2500 or $3000. Maybe White on White has a knock-off version for cheaper?
