Although we don't go too often, spas can be great getaways. Yesterday we picked up a copy of Conscious Choice while drinking our coffee and found a few articles on natural spa treatments. As customers start to seek out chemical-free treatments, green salons and spas are springing up around the city...

Green Salons: Conscious Choice lists a few green day spas in the Chicago area. These are the ones we found interesting...
• Allyu is a new Chicago day spa, recently opened by Tamara Wills. The space was made with reclaimed barnwood, cork floors, field stone, and clay plaster. Natural products are used in spa treatments.
• Mojo in Wicker Park is an all-natural nail spa. Owner Amanda Kezios and her assistants make the beauty products sold in the store by hand. The spa menu includes manicures, pedicures, and facials.
Acupuncture Facials: The alternative offered by Conscious Choice circumvents traditional spas altogether, using acupuncture in place of a standard facial or massage.
• Shen Shen Health and Harmony provides cosmetic acupuncture, as well as massage treatments and herbal medicine.

Not a high-end spa but a good go-to for all of that "spa stuff"
spa space.

Rose petal pedicures and organic mud on my butt are not my thing. To my thinking, anything other than deep tissue massage is superfluous.
I've tried a lot of places in Chicago and my favorite is Urban Oasis. And my favorite therapist is Jeff. I only feel safe revealing this because I have a standing appointment and don't have to worry about any of you people snatching up my spot. :)

This place is SO COOL! Not in any way my design esthete, but that's kinda the point of spas & "getting away". I immediately flashed into all my Rudolph Valentino fantasies with this perfect setting. I relax just looking at it.
