ideal bite is an e-mail service (a la Daily Candy) that delivers green tips. We'll take our eco-info however we can get it.
The tips roll in, providing information and inspiration for "people who aspire to align their everyday actions with their personal values".
Based on the idea that "small changes...done by many...create big results", they aim to give green choices a boost.
Here is an example:
Ideal Tip: Give up eating your steak just once a week.
Ideal Impact: If just 1,000 subscribers gave up eating beef once a week, they would save 1.5 BILLION gallons of water usage, and would stop more than 60,000 pounds of fertilizer from being released into the water table.

...and just think how many cows' lives you wouldn't take!
Why does "eco-friendly" seem like it's suddenly part of some vegan agenda? What about giving info on sustainable livestock and farms that find ways to conserve water and keep it clean? Don't alienate people who like protein in their diet from the environmental cause.
Whoa am I having a bad day already? Should've had some steak and eggs for breakfast!
The question is, of course, what would they have eaten in place of the steak? If they ate deep sea fish, it could be bad as well. Or if they ate corn that also could contribute to pesticide and fertilizer use.
What if they ate organic food, but it was brought to them by plane rather than a locally raised cow?
If I don't eat beef I'm still going to eat other meat, (my health requires an Atkins-type diet) and I would be far more interested in learning about organic meat than in being told to "save cow lives."
to the above 'crabby' meat eaters...
i was just adding that on top of saving water (and the food for the cows and fertilizer, etc) you would spare many lives. i don't believe i said anything about being vegan or hating on meat eaters. relax.
