Jens Jensen: Harmonious World

When we posted photos of Humboldt Park the other day, AT reader Carey linked to a documentary she's making about Jens Jensen, designer of Humboldt and other west side Chicago parks (including Garfield Park Conservatory, shown above). As one of the first 20th century ecologists, Jensen introduced native landscaping to Chicago long before it was considered eco-friendly. We watched a preview, and the film looks great! See a clip below.

Currently in production, Jens Jensen: Harmonious World is an hour-long television documentary that, according to its makers, "reveals the beginnings of the movement to set aside green spaces." For more information, to see clips, or to donate to the film, click here.

That post about Humboldt Park reminded me of how much I love the ferns in the Garfield Park Conservatory (and how much I miss living in Chicago). If you live in Chicago and haven't been, I'd recommend making the trip to the west side.
