Organic Wool Hypoallergenic Mattress Pad

10-25-07organicwool.jpg

We've been hearing a lot about the antibacterial benefits of organic wool. It's easily treated with natural repellents like eucalyptus and chrysanthemum. Seems like the perfect material for hypoallergenic bedding. This set from Gaiam ranges from $69 to $289.

The wool is sheared from organic sheep and infused with a chemical-free mixture of lemon, lavender, and eucalyptus. To care for an organic wool mattress pad, have it dry-cleaned (by a green cleaner) once a year.

"chemical-free mixture of lemon, lavender, and eucalyptus"? Strange.

I have a fleecy wool mattress cover and love it! It is incredibly comfortable. But you don't have to dry clean it - I wash mine with woolite in the washer every so often, and dry it in the dryer on the cool setting.
