A stylish storage solution: "refreshed and recycled" old wooden boxes and crates. A mix of sizes, lots of aged beauty and freshly added fresh white stencil-like numbers makes for a look that can be described as rustic meets Jasper Johns (with a touch of Robert Indiana)...
We love the look that the smart folks at Three Potato Four came up with for these - the simple addition of the numbers to the varied collection makes them work as a whole and turns storage into a statement.
We think this is worth bookmarking as a future DIY - it would involve some longterm thrift or flea searching for the boxes, but beyond that, it's cake, just some stencils and a bit of paint.
Or, if instant gratification is the name of the game, they are for sale right now at Three Potato Four ($45-80.)
Or go to a country antique fair. I always see dozens of wooden boxes for about $5 - $10 a pop there.

My future father-in-law dropped off 14 wine boxes for me earlier this week. There are 4 of them that won't work for my needs. If you're in NYC and want them, drop me a line. They are in the pile in this picture...
