Sustainable Condos : In Chicago

2006-05-16-culverhouse.jpgEco-building makes us proud: Chicago has made a total commitment to environmental practices in it's municipal building and landscaping programs. In the news this week, Dirk Denison brings the same sustainability agenda to the private sector with Culver House, a condo development breaking ground this month.

The Chicago firm has designed this glass beauty to sit across from Washington Square Park (near the Newberry Library) in the Gold Coast. In Metropolis, Denison says, "I'm doing this building as a demonstration of all of things we're trying to do in the city". The double skinned glass facade utilizes solar power, shows off the systems (green roof, irrigated terraces) that make the structure tick and is gorgeous - we say bring on the eco-buildings!
