Chicago, prepare for some heat. After a stretch of cool, breezy summer days, we're finally going to be feeling a Midwestern July. Last year was the first time since living in Chicago (that's 8 years!) that we had an a/c unit, and while we rarely turn it on, we're sure happy to have the option.
So, fans: ceiling fans help, but sometimes you just want one you can sit in front of for hours. Box fans are pretty atrocious looking; standing floor fans bulky. We think table top fans for a small apartment have always been a stylish way to cool down.
AT reader Anna sent us this link for a fan from Lightology saying, "Only question: what color?" In brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze, it goes for a breezy $33.60.

Those Lightology fans are so cute, and what a great price!
I like the standard, nondescript Vornado fans. Man, can those things push air! They're small enough to hide away when not in use and easy enough to move from room to room. And very quiet!
And with a 20% off coupon from "you know where," also a pretty good price!
P.S. I like the nickel, myself. Very aeronautical/aviational.
My mom just bought this retro fan from Lowe's that is very similar to the one above. Paid about $20 although it is listed for $25.

Also comes in a stand version. I have a vintage fan waiting to be repaired by my dad or I would have bought the stand one.

Another dumbed down Chinese version of an American classic. When are we Americans going to say, "NO" to cheap Chinese knock-off garbage having a life expectancy of 1-2 years? Dopey, large center medallion, light weight with a coffee can motor cover. CRAP!
Check out MatthewsFanCo.com. Lightology also carries this great hand-made fan brand.
