It was the Tribune's annual garden issue. Tis the season to start thinking about the outside of our homes.
Our favorite tidbit...the part that proves everything old is new again - the return of the rain barrel. It's a good green idea whose time has come again; gathering rainwater to use for your gardening. A special offer for chicago residents: Rainbarrels will be available for $40. at the Chicago Center for Green Technology (445 N. Sacramento) and Greenmaker Building Supply ((2500 N. Pulaski).

Barrels will be available starting May 21, payment is by check only and the limited supply will be sold on a first come, first served basis. For more info, call 312.743.9283.

I bought a rain barrel through the City of Chicago program last year and it was a fantastic deal. The rain barrel is high quality and works well. Pick up at the facility went like a breeze.
