The beauty of small and simple is a look at the small apartment living lifestyle of Maria Seregondi, a VP for Moleskine.
Her 800 sq. ft. apartment is in a casa di ringheria in Milan, a multi-unit building surrounding a courtyard.
Tips for small space living and a lack of natural light are included but we have to issue a warnng: reading this article may induce jealousy.
Also from H&G this week:
6 Ways: To beat the heat. Turning off lights, using small appliances instead of the stove, and tips for fans and vents round out the list.
NeoCon: Karen Klages' picks from the contract trade show.
Recycling Question: Insight into the recycling process in Chicago is prompted by a reader's query...how to recycle those cardboard tubes with metal ends?
Dishing: Road trip food is featured this week - chicken and artichoke pasta salad and extra mileage trail mix.
The 6 Ways link goes to the Green Index - is that right?

I loved the article about 'The Beauty of Small and Simple'. I have lived in an 1800 square foot home with my husband and two boys for almost 17 years. During this time I have developed a passion and appreciation for small living spaces which I affectionately call Jewel Box Homes. There are so many reasons to live in a Jewel Box space:
- A smaller price tag
- Less maintenance and less stress
- A lower environmental impact; Jewel Box spaces have smaller footprints and use fewer resources
- Functional and efficient space
- Comfort; smaller living spaces are built to human scale
To see pictures of my Jewel Box Home and learn how to decorate, entertain and find happiness in small living spaces, I invite you to visit my website http://www.thejewelboxhome.com/. I hope to welcome you for a visit soon!
